I know that there are a few derogative reviews regarding the sound on this TV but in fairness I have just bought one of these and at £199 it is a great little set for my bedroom – I have no problems with it. In fact I think it is super. Also, thank you Tom for the speedy delivery - as promised. Rating: [4 of 5 Stars!]

I agree with the comments above, I have have just purchased the TV and noticed straight away on digital reception the sound is very tinny and mono. I tried to adjust the sound settings but on digital reception you only have the option of LR, RR and LL, which I understand are mono settings. I have returned the TV straight away and obtain a full refund. Rating: [1 of 5 Stars!]

I bought this television yesterday and I am really disappointed in the sound quality. It is tinny and painful to listen to - there is definitely a serious design fault. I have other items from JVC that work fine but I will never buy from them again. If the previous reveiwer is right about the fact that adding speakers won't resolve the problem then it is probably not useable in the long run. Very very disappointed - do not buy this set. I am surprised that more people have not reviewed. Rating: [1 of 5 Stars!]

Very disappointed with this TV. I haven't read any other reviews on this yet and I'm surprised I haven't... Although the picture is ok for an LCD tv, it has a really clunky, badly thought out menu system and dreadful audio. How did this ever make it into production? With regards to the sound, I tried to get around the whole problem by connecting my own speakers through my amplifier. If you do this you will finding that there is no way of turning the sound down on the tv without reducing the sound going through the amp or getting a huge mute symbol on your tv. This is a huge design flaw that I would never expect from JVC. I'm so disappointed. I've spoken to their customer support and they said they have heard this complaint about the sound from other customers. The were completely confused when it came to finding a remedy for it.
